5 Top Tips for a Great Corporate Headshot

Getting a corporate headshot can feel a bit daunting, but with the right preparation, you can make sure your session goes smoothly and you get a fantastic photo that represents you perfectly. Here are some top tips to help you prepare and make the most out of your corporate headshot session.
1: Choose the Right Outfit

Your outfit plays a big role in how your headshot turns out. Think about how you would like to be perceived. Here are some tips for choosing the perfect outfit:

Stick to Solid Colours: Patterns and prints can be distracting. Solid colours are a safer bet and keep the focus on your face.

Appropriate for your industry:  If you work in a more traditional industry such as insurance or banking then your clothes should be more formal. However, if you work in the media industry it can be more casual.

Avoid Bright Colours: Bright colours can be too overwhelming. Opt for neutral tones or muted colours that complement your skin tone.

Think About Layers: Layers can add depth and interest to your outfit. A jacket or a cardigan over a shirt can look smart and polished.

Feel Good: Whatever you choose to wear, the most important thing is that you feel good in it. If something is ill-fitting or not your style you’re not going to like yourself in the images.

2: Grooming Matters

A little grooming goes a long way in making sure you look your best:

Hair: Make sure your hair is clean and styled the way you like it. If you need a haircut, get it a week before your session.

Face: For men, a fresh shave or a neatly trimmed beard is essential. For women, a natural makeup look that enhances your features without being too heavy is ideal. Take your time applying it to make sure it’s blended well and avoid fake tan.

Skin: Hydrate well and get a good night’s sleep before your session to ensure your skin looks its best.

3: What to Bring

Bringing a few items with you can help ensure a smooth session:

Extra Outfits: Bring a couple of extra shirts or blouses in different colours to give you more options.

Touch-Up Kit: Have a small kit with essentials like a hairbrush, makeup for touch-ups, and a lint roller.

Accessories: Consider bringing a few simple accessories like a watch or a necklace.
